Pastor Donovan preaches through Mark 1:35-2:17
We have seen that the King has come and called us to reject all other kings and follow him. We have seen his authority over truth, and the spiritual and physical realm. He has proven he can deliver on his promises. Now, he invites us to be citizens of the Kingdom, to come and be healed by the great physician. He is able and willing to touch and heal the worst of sinners. What will the response be? There are only two possible responses: accept the King or reject him. What will the dividing line be? Those who “see” that they are healthy will reject the offer of restoration, those who see they are sick will gladly take it, and rejoice. The community of God will be characterized by a bunch of “lepers” eagerly awaiting the fulfillment of the Kingdom.
Implications for community: The degree to which we have authentic community is directly correlated to the degree to which we are honest about our condition.
Implications for mission: The degree to which we are perceived as loving and gracious by the world is directly correlated to the degree to which we are honest about our condition.

This week’s sermon started a 3 week series based on the “What we do” section of our vision statement. Namely, how our response to the Gospel manifests itself in Corporate, Intimate, and Pioneering dimensions. This week we will look at the Corporate aspect. Why gather? Do we have to? What’s the point? What does it do for us? What does it do for the world? Pastor Donovan preaches on Psalm 68, a Psalm of rejoicing in the work of the King.

We experience freedom when our desires align with our design, which is to glorify God through obedience to Christ Jesus. Living by the power of the Holy Spirit, in the tension between Religion and Irreligion.
