Virtual Library

Our new Virtual Library is a service that will provide you with access to free books with very little burden on the church. The library consists of your own bookshelves. We all have a lot of good books to share and we do not all need to be buying our own copies of everything. Many of us are already doing this on our own, so this is a logical step to organize and encourage it further.
We all list the books we would be willing to lend out. You do the legwork of emailing a request to borrow to the owner, arrange the exchange, and you return it to them in a week or two.
The vision of this service is to provide access to spiritual growth materials to the church. We don’t want people missing out on good books for financial reasons or feeling like they need to buy everything printed. We would like to limit the scope of the materials to nonfiction books that address spiritual growth or biblical study.
HOW TO BEGIN:
email Paul Smith (paulizsmith@gmail.com) your list of books you’d like to share (maybe just start with your top ten for now and we can add more later)give the title, author, and optionally a 4-6 word summary of the topic
Paul will update the list and make sure that you can access it
GUIDELINES FOR POSTING REQUESTS:
no fiction, politics, secular philosophy, psychology, etc.
nothing extremely valuable or irreplaceable
nothing that clearly conflicts with Imago’s statement of faith
Do continue to send Paul posting requests as you finish reading good books!
GUIDELINES FOR BORROWING REQUESTS:
Please borrow just 1-2 at a time to make loss and slow returns rare
Please keep books only a week or two
Please respect the time and property of others – if your dog eats the book find a suitable replacement for the owner
GUIDELINES FOR LENDING:
If someone requests a book that is currently out you can tell them who has it if you want them to exchange directly or just let them know when it comes back
You retain ownership of your books and can pull them out at any time
Please contact Paul Smith (current custodian) or Pastor Donovan with any questions or concerns.
